Health Officials Concerned About Pandemic Outbreaks

he threat of a pandemic sweeping across the country is rare.

We haven't seen one in more than 30 years. However, if such an event were to occur, national health officials don't feel we are ready to respond.

Some of the most respected officials in the health industry were in La Crosse Thursday to speak at a pandemic preparation conference.

They spoke to more than 100 local officials in attendance, and another 13 hundred via web casting, alerting them that a pandemic is something that can happen anywhere, at any time.

Foreclosure prevention workshop Saturday

.People worried about losing their homes to foreclosure can attend a free workshop Saturday on ways to keep their houses.

The workshop will include a 45-minute presentation on foreclosure prevention. Attendees can meet with foreclosure counselors from Couleecap for advise, and some lenders will be present.
The workshop will take place at the Radisson Center at the corner of Second and Jay streets in downtown La Crosse.

The presentation begins at 9 a.m. In-person help is available from 9:45 a.m. to 3 p.m. To reserve space or get more information, call (608) 782-5520.
